Also, the number of instructions simulated (from m5stats.txt) is different for
the 2 modes by:

Subject: [m5-users] differences in output stats between FS and SE in splash2
Hello,
I ran some splash2 benchmarks in M5 beta 5 in both FS and SE mode to see
the differences in the two. For example, barnes gives the following:
SE mode:
--------------
Hack code: Plummer model
nbody dtime eps tol dtout tstop fcells
NPROC
16384 0.02500 0.0500 1.00 0.250 0.075 2.00
4
COMPUTESTART = 1
COMPUTEEND = 57
COMPUTETIME = 56
TRACKTIME = 27
PARTITIONTIME = 0 0.00
TREEBUILDTIME = 1 0.04
FORCECALCTIME = 26 0.96
RESTTIME = 0 0.00
warn: ignoring syscall sigprocmask(1, 18446744073709547831, ...)
FS mode:
--------------
Hack code: Plummer model
nbody dtime eps tol dtout tstop fcells
NPROC
16384 0.02500 0.0500 1.00 0.250 0.075 2.00
4
COMPUTESTART = 4294666516
COMPUTEEND = 4294691052
COMPUTETIME = 24536
TRACKTIME = 12258
PARTITIONTIME = 3 0.00
TREEBUILDTIME = 10047 0.82
FORCECALCTIME = 2114 0.17
RESTTIME = 94 0.01
----------------
All config params were the same in both. I had given a resetstats in the rcS
file for FS. I expected that the various times would not vary by such a large
amount. Is this difference expected or am I doing something wrong?
The benchmarks do run correctly, I verified them by using the "-t" switch.
Sujay
