I'm a little confused about the sim_ticks, sim_seconds, host_seconds, and how these are all related to the numCycles. I take it that sim_ticks is the most important figure and is the total simulation time. How does this relate with host_seconds? I'm having a little trouble with increasing the clock frequency and getting some weird results. I think it's probably something on my end, and I think part of the problem is that I don't really understand how sim_seconds, host_seconds, and numCycles are related.
When I've been doubling the frequency for the simple timing cpu, I'm getting very little speedup (for example a setup with 2GHz takes 0.004076 seconds and a 4GHz setup takes 0.004013 seconds). The program that I've been running is a simple double for loop that sums up all of the loop counters and then prints the result to the screen. Thanks in advance, Paul
