You actually need to install the cross-compiler. I don't recall off 
hand how do it but it was pretty straight forward.

The instructions say you should get it from here.

If you have installed and can't find the binary:

try typing this:

find ~/ -name "*alpha-unknown-linux-gnu-gcc*" -ls

or 
find ~/ -name "*gcc*" -ls

(Presuming you aren't root or sudo) if it exists in your home 
directory,  you should able to 'find' it that way.

Lastly, check your path
