Thanks for you reply, Steve. Your answer clarify my understanding.
    For my cache, it is not exactly a cache. I inherit it from the *
mem_object*; it has only *cpu_side* and no* mem_side*. Is that OK?  I
implement a port in it, inheriting from *Port*. I also implement the
getPort(), getDeviceAddrRanges(), and try to send the status change in the
constructor after the port is created. But when I try to move the
sendStatusChange() to the init(), it always reports a segment fault.
    I thought that anything with a port can be connected to bus, not
necessary to be a cache, so I try to do that. Is there any other rules for
something that need to communicate with the bus? Thank you very much !
