After digging M5 for some time, I found I'm still not very sure about something.

1. Is it normal to have only __init__.{py,py.do,py.o,py.s} file in "M5/m5-stable/build/ALPHA_SE/python/m5/objects" while there is no "objects" directory in "M5/m5-stable/src/python/m5"? How to generate the .py files during compilation exactly? Otherwise, "from m5.objects import *" makes not sense...

2. Is ruby also an alternative memory simulator for M5? Or the current version of M5 uses its own implemented memory hierarchy, as I guess?

3. If ruby is not used, which cache coherence protocol is used? I saw one script has "from m5.objects.CoherenceProtocol import CoherenceProtocol" but as indicated in point 1, I do not have anything in m5.objects....

Thanks!!!!!

Thanks Nate. Correct me if I'm wrong: in file
"m5-stable/build/ALPHA_SE/python/m5/objects/__init__.py", all the imports
will include the corresponding .py files for each components from src/
directory, and those .py files are the source where I can learn about all
the available classes and parameters in script writing, right?
Yes, that's roughly correct. The SimObject statement in the
SConscript files tells the build system about .py files that will go
into m5/objects.
