Hi everyone, I'm writing to introduce you all the @Bridgit Kurgat <[email protected]>, the incoming Gender Lead at Wikimedia Foundation based in the Community Growth team.
Bridgit is from Nairobi, Kenya and joins us from Days for Girls International, where she was the Global Advocacy Manager. She holds a degree in Gender and Development Studies from Kenyatta University and a Masters in Public Policy and Management from Strathmore University Business School. She is also an alumnus of the NYU Robert Wagner and a recognized feminist practitioner and community builder. In her own words, "I am passionate about gender mainstreaming and my career path radiates a commitment to gender equity within communities through community engagements, advocacy, and application of gender intelligence in community projects." Going forward, Bridgit will be leading the Foundation's support to contributors looking to advance gender equity in our movement. In practice, this will see me taking more of a step backwards over time as Bridgit becomes acquainted with the needs of our movement in the gender gap space (I'll still be working and supporting in the background, but not leading).
