I'll have to try that... I've had that issue for years and just press
mute when I was talking and unmute it to hear the songs.

ive had this problem as well
you need to reduce the latency for the buffer settings when creating a
new 
MIC / LINE IN file for MIC usage.

Packets al lthe way down and PACKET TIME all the way down is almost NO 
latency

you will still get some echo but this isnt really echo,
its the time it takes for your soundcard to process the sound your MIC
puts 
into it at the same time its processing the Playlist playing file if you

have somehting playing in the background

i MUTED my RECORD LINE IN on the soundcard so all i hear is ME
but i still hear me a couple seconds late.

Better soundcard = better for your ears i belive
but others can correct if iam wrong
