Try this:
  //Get SAM's Time
  $SAMdb->open("SELECT UNIX_TIMESTAMP() as timeonsam");
  $samtime = $SAMdb->row();
  $curtime = $samtime['timeonsam'];

if $SAMdb is not your connector change it to $db

then echo $curtime in the proper format you want.
