Jim:

In addition to using the email services of Outlook, I know of several 
internet radio stations that for years have used ICQ and other services like 
Yahoo Messenger to have instant messaging between listeners and the station 
DJ's and management.  This can be used in conjunction for interactive 
chatrooms, like Undernet (IRC) where you can set-up Channel Ops to moderate 
the discussions, too.
