The only way I can envision this happening is if SAM cannot find the file 
it's supposed to load.

Is the FULL PATH correct? Does the file play in Winamp?

The alternative is that there is too much silence that triggers the GAP 
killer or the inverse that the sound recording is too short and is being 
skipped or sounds like it is.

What does the event log show?

Mike, I doubt that hammering fellow emailers is going to improve things. 
Keep things upbeat.  The season has enough seasons of its own.
