True, the Database for articles and users was already in CP1256 before the recent upgrade, I tried to switch it (convert with iconv, or recode) to UTF-8, but unfortunetly this caused some flows in the Database, where users with Arabic names were not able to login. > or they portet frontpage to Linux? > or is linux4arab is site for windows user only? Well.. Linux4Arab is not for Windows-Users only, ALL graphical Web-browsers in Linux can open CP1256 sites without problems. So this is a non-issue. On the other hand, about 90% of the site visitors use IE. IE can open both CP1256 and UTF-8, and so does Mozilla, Safari, and Konq. So this Encoding issue I see as pure non-sense. What counts the most is the Content and quality of content.
