i did install linux in my pda2k, it's a very straight forward operation, and i guess its pretty much safe to do in this particular model..
imate pda2k, or as it's widly known as HTC BlueAngel is one of the few pda/phone devices that the progress of running linux on has reached a very advanced state. there is a running kernel, bootloader, sound and phone work (may be the only htc model that does), hardware keyboard, bluetooth is in progress, the camera and wifi are missing though, but they are planned.
you have to get an sd card to run from though, i think 128 will be ok.
i'll give you a bunch of links that will guide you through the whole operation..

Hey,
I got a used i-mate PDA2K PocketPC and was curious if anyone tried to
install Linux on PDAs.
The specs of my device is a Intel PXA263 400 MHz processor, 128MB RAM,
it features Microsoft Pocket PC 2003 SE OS.
Although i haven't took the time to search yet, any links/urls of
HOWTOs, Tutorials, or past experiences is appreciated.
thanks,

I have the same problem, I looked for a while but didn't finished... I was
afraid of losing my phone so didn't tried. try http://handhelds.org/familiar
I tried to use Synce to syncronise my PDA with Linux.... didn't succeed any
more, surely by lack of trying. But if we can share experience I'm ready to
start again.
Regards
Armelle
