Salam all: I tried to install Drupal 5.9, starting by uploading package files after unzipping them in a folder, creating a database and creating a database user, all that from within Plesk control panel.
http://ae5.arabbix.org/5.9/ I ran the installation script, I got the error: "Unable to select database" I researched Google and Drupal site and found some typical problems. All solutions talk about either making modifications to the default settings using the actual names of the database "databasename", the user, and the password in the settings file under sites/default folder; or advising that this user I created is not privileged enough to see the database...but nobody told how to make this user privileged, and also the Plesk interface doesn't provide this. I also tried to run a command line: http://drupal.org/getting-started/5/install/create-database/mysql into the PhpMyAdmin but it gave me errors as this user is not privileged for these commands. I gave up.. I re-uploaded the install files, and I am just waiting any help even by sending me modified files that can work. Any other help is highly appreciated!
