________________________________ From: Abdelmonam Kouka <[email protected]> To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, March 16, 2009 12:45:32 AM Subject: [general] New Project name of Ubuntu Muslim Edition السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته، (English version is below, forward the information please) منذ أكثر من شهر ونصف (تحديدا في 21 جانفي 2009) أرسلت Canonical رسالة email إلى فريق النسخة الإسلامية لأوبونتو تطلب فيها تغيير اسم التوزيعة واسم النطاق لأنها تتعارض مع سياسة العلامات التجارية التي وضعتها: “We've tried to define a reasonable trademark policy that allows people to customise Ubuntu, and use the marks to promote the project, while at the same preserving the integrity of the marks.” عندها قام الفريق باتخاذ الخطوات التالية: 1) تبادل الأفكار ، والبحث عن الأسماء التي لم يسبق استخدامها 2) التصويت وبعد اختيار التسمية الجديدة انطلقت المرحلة الثالثة: 3) العمل على تحديث جميع النصوص والصور و الآن، يسرّ فريق النسخة الإسلامية لأوبونتو أن يعلن لكم على بركة الله الإسم الجديد للتوزيعة ألا وهو: "سبيلي". وسيكون الشعار الجديد: (قل هذه سبيلي أدعو إلى الله على بصيرة أنا ومن اتبعني) -وهو الجزء الأول من الآية 108 من سورة يوسف- نرجو من كافة الأخوة والأخوات تمرير المعلومة، كما نرجو من كل من يرى في نفسه القدرة على مد يد المساعدة في التطوير (تطوير البرامج الإسلامية أو تصميمات الجرافيكس)، أو من له أفكار جديدة للتوزيعة أن لا يتردد في الإتصال بنا عن طريق: * المجموعة البريدية للمساعدة التقنية الخاصة بالمشروع: http://groups.google.com/group/ubuntume?hl=en&pli=1 * المجموعة البريدية الخاصة بالتطوير: https://launchpad.net/sabily لمزيد من المعلومات حول المشروع الرجاء زيارة موقع الواب الخاص به: http://www.ubuntume.com/ Assalamo alaykom wa rahmato Allah wa baraketoh, For more than a month and a half (specifically, on 21 January 2009) Canonical sent an email to the Ubuntu Muslim Edition team requesting to change the project name and the URL of the web site because they are inconsistent with its trademark policy: “We've tried to define a reasonable trademark policy that allows people to customise Ubuntu, and use the marks to promote the project, while at the same preserving the integrity of the marks.” So, the team took the following steps: 1) brainstorming, finding names which are not already used 2) voting And after the selection of the new name, launched the third phase: 3) working on updating all text and pictures And now, the Ubuntu Muslim Edition team is pleased to announce the new name of the distro: "سبيلي" == "my way." The new slogan will be: (قل هذه سبيلي أدعو إلى الله على بصيرة أنا ومن اتبعني) which means "This is my way; I invite unto Allah with sure knowledge, I and whosoever follows me..." -It is the first part of the verse 108 from Surat Yusuf- We ask all brothers and sisters to forward this information, and we hope to receive your help in the development of the project (the development of Islamic software and/or graphics design), or by giving new ideas for the distro.
