Hi Mike...
Thanks; however, I had already called and it isn't as simple as a
telephone call.  It required an extra trip to the campus and an
application for a visitor permit which is good for the rest of the
semester.  It is sort of a cerise color (reddish purple) but doesn't
indicate what areas it is good for, so that means another phone call. At
least I won't have to make another trip out there. 
So for anyone else who's interested, one has to get a new visitor permit
for each semester or summer session which is valid for the whole session.
