This is regarding an event that NOLUG will be participating in this month. If anyone here goes to NOLUG meetings or lurks on their list you may want to volunteer your help. Regards, Dustin

Dustin, I'm responding to you off-list so that I can send you a copy of my original e-mail about the demo day. It was shortly before the trouble with the NOLUG server, so you probably missed it. BTW, I met you at the BRLUG demo day at Barnes & Noble and talked to you a little about the Brown Foundation building project. I'm sorry that it has taken so long for me to get back with information, but one of the women who runs the program has been hospitalized (routine surgery, oops... complications!) but she is doing much better now. The Service Celebration (as the meeting is called) will be on Wednesday, Sept. 19th at the Alario Center in Westwego from 9:30am to 1:00pm (setup is 8:00 to 9:00). I have gotten the OK for NOLUG to have a booth if you want to do it. I have a copy of the info and registration form so if someone would like to send me a fax number, I can send it over for everyone to look at and send in if you decide this is something you would like to do. I don't think that I will be able to make the next meeting, so send me any questions you may have and I'll try to get them answered. A general overview of what happens at this meeting (based on what I saw at the one last year) is that about 500 students and 300 teachers from about 100 area schools (6th - 12th grade) get together for the recognition and awarding of grants for their respective charitable projects. Also, there are booths from many area charitable organizations trying to "recruit" students to perform projects associated with their groups. I think a nice demonstration of the use of Free software and "available" equipment would be of interest to both the teachers and students. Maybe we could get some free cd's to give out or something. Of course, Dave would probably be the best source for ideas and direction, but I think he's on vacation right now. Fortunately, there's still time to discuss this and put everything together if there is interest is doing so. What do you guys think?
