Yup, the debian-cygwin project. I'm a big fan of cygwin and have been playing with it for about a year. Tried to configure Mutt once to use the same mbox on both w32 and linux in a w32 partition, but got sidetracked. I get and keep too much email... :P
I'm also interested in seeing Jabber run under cygwin (http://mailman.jabber.org/pipermail/jdev/2001-October/008897.html), as that would increase the usage of Jabber (http://www.jabber.org). I have a cable modem at home and a T1 at work and it works good enough. I have run staroffice but it was very slow. I haven't tried to compile any package manager yet into cygwin, although it would be a cool addition. Is this where you got your info on building dpkg? http://debian-cygwin.sourceforge.net/ Adam J. Melancon ----Original Message Follows---- Very cool! I'd like to try setting something up like this to get to my home machine from work. What kind of performance do you get? What's your bandwidth between the two machines? Also, have you tried compiling dpkg under Cygwin? I started the steps last night at work, but ran out of time. At the meeting monday I had my laptop with me and it had cygwin/Xfree86 up and running on it. Check it out, I'm using cygwin on win98 to ssh to a server and using X11 forwarding to run programs locally. Here I'm monitoring the system using gtop. http://www.vermilion.lib.la.us/cygwin98.jpg and here are some gimp shots http://www.vermilion.lib.la.us/gimp1.jpg http://www.vermilion.lib.la.us/gimp2.jpg Adam J.
