The answer is Yes. :)

FreeBSD (and i'm pretty sure OpenBSD and NetBSD as well)
have install programs that make PPP or ethernet connections
and FTP source from one of the mirror sites.

I'm certain FreeBSD does it, because when I installed it
a few years ago, I remember FTP'in the equivalent of the
slackware A, X, and XAP  disksets - i.e. basic utilities
and an X distro, with the usual trinkets.

I installed (temporarily) a NetBSD partition about a year
ago, but I downloaded all the basic utilities beforehand,
but i seem to remember an FTP option being in there.
