Need some suggestions as to this application.

I have a 3com Homeconnect webcam....its actually a Vicam camera.
I use an application called WebCam32 to take pictures of my dog every 10 =
seconds and ftp them up to a webserver.

Now I think with some work I could probably find a app that takes the =
pics and saves them to a directory then I could stumble through writing =
a perl script that would look in a specific directory then ftp a file =
with a predetermined name to the webserver.....however, if there is a =
good open source application that does this for me in the manner that =
webcam32 does in the win32 environment I would prefer to not reinvent =
the wheel.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Cleve
