The employees of a Gateway store in New Orleans looked at me bewildered when I asked for a computer with no "OS". Then I asked them if there were any alternatives to microsoft products offered like linux possibly. The kind, yet misinformed woman, asked if linux was a new office suite. I tried to explain to her, but to some people, they don't understand how a computer works without windows. They know that they turn on the power button and Windows starts up. To them, windows is their computer. Without windows it's broken. There are alot less tech savvy people than we would like to think, even in the pc retail business. They just know to read what's on the card sitting next to the pc on display.
I just can't wait to get linux up and running again. I botched the first debian install, after realizing that something just wasn't right with my usb, and now with the bsf2.4 version, I'm getting a message telling me that the files I'm using are in the wrong compressed format. Oddly enough, they're all either .bin or .tgz, just like the last version of debian I tried.
