Been a while since I looked, but when I bought my web cam a while back there
were lots more options for *nix than there was for windows. Have you done a
search on freshmeat for projects? Seems like I tried at least 4-5 that all
worked well.

Need some suggestions as to this application.
I have a 3com Homeconnect webcam....its actually a Vicam camera.
I use an application called WebCam32 to take pictures of my dog every 10
seconds and ftp them up to a webserver.
Now I think with some work I could probably find a app that takes the pics
and saves them to a directory then I could stumble through writing a perl
script that would look in a specific directory then ftp a file with a
predetermined name to the webserver.....however, if there is a good open
source application that does this for me in the manner that webcam32 does in
the win32 environment I would prefer to not reinvent the wheel.
Any ideas?
