I'll be there John. Actually I started with a Atari 800 using a tape =
player as the input and Atari Basic. Where is Sparkhound?

  Larry,

I agree completely with your statement. I also started with DOS 3.? =
way back in the day and when I installed Linux for the first time on my =
own home equipment, had the same kind of thrill of being in control of =
my hardware. Even more so in the case of Linux, since the source is free =
and open.

I intend to do exactly what you are asking for, an introduction to =
Linux from the beginning, using the RUTE (http://rute.sf.net) tutorial =
and a few other resources. Are you interested in attending a =
planning/brainstorming meeting on Monday evening at 7pm at Sparkhound? I =
think you have valuable input to contribute to the meeting.

My own experience with Linux was that I was exposed to it back in 1996 =
but did not feel I had the knowledge or experience to install it on my =
own equipment (and Doom seemed to take up most of my time on computers =
then!). It took me a couple of years after that until I was finally able =
to work at home and had enough free time to take the plunge and bang my =
head against my computer screen until I got past the learning curve. I =
did have some help from others, but it was mostly a lot of hard effort =
on my part. So, I can empathize with others about the difficulty of =
learning Linux, especially when pressed for time.

  John Hebert
