I'll be there John. Actually I started with a Atari 800 using a tape =
player as the input and Atari Basic. Where is Sparkhound?

Larry,
I agree completely with your statement. I also started with DOS =
3.? way back in the day and when I installed Linux for the first time on =
my own home equipment, had the same kind of thrill of being in control =
of my hardware. Even more so in the case of Linux, since the source is =
free and open.
I intend to do exactly what you are asking for, an introduction to =
Linux from the beginning, using the RUTE (http://rute.sf.net) tutorial =
and a few other resources. Are you interested in attending a =
planning/brainstorming meeting on Monday evening at 7pm at Sparkhound? I =
think you have valuable input to contribute to the meeting.
My own experience with Linux was that I was exposed to it back in =
1996 but did not feel I had the knowledge or experience to install it on =
my own equipment (and Doom seemed to take up most of my time on =
computers then!). It took me a couple of years after that until I was =
finally able to work at home and had enough free time to take the plunge =
and bang my head against my computer screen until I got past the =
learning curve. I did have some help from others, but it was mostly a =
lot of hard effort on my part. So, I can empathize with others about the =
difficulty of learning Linux, especially when pressed for time.
