Ok, I guess I'm gonna submit my first problem to the brluglist. =)

I got a new modem, it's a USR 56K ISA with jumpers for setting the port and
irq. I had many problems with it yesterday, and I won't go into painful
detail. The short of it is, if I leave the jumpers set to plug and play it
will work fine in win2k, but when I try to dial in Linux, it picks up the
line, then locks the computer up. then I changed the jumpers to be on com 3
irq 4 and then it works in Linux, problem is it won't work in Win2k. Now, I
have the jumpers set for com 2 irq 3 and it works fine in win2k but I am
getting the same lockup problem in linux. Any ideas on why I am getting
this lockup? It makes me think there is a conflict, but I can't find
anything that says something is using those resources.

I am using Mandrake 8.1 with kernel 2.4.8

thanks
