I think that what you are looking for is term program such as Eterm that does the pseudo transparent window thing. This combined with a lack of window dressing makes the actual term window appear as if it is part of the background. As an example, take a look at this <a href="http://members.telocity.com/~mnemonic">screenshot</a> of mine (warning - page is under construction). You will see the Eterm window with a transparent background. Since I am away from home, and my beloved Linux box, I cannot give you the exact command line options to start Eterm without the window decorations. However, I can search back here in my memory and see what I can recall. I think the it goes something like this: Eterm -x. I am not 100% sure this is right. The "x" may actually be "X"...or not even "x" at all. I guess what I am trying to say is that Eterm, Aterm, Gnometerminal, and others will do what you want. :) This combined with Mark's information will give you something like your example screenshot. I hope this helps...it is still early and I am now confused. -K Jason DeWitt <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Hey, I've got a question. On many screenshots of linux desktops that I've seen it looks like they have a terminal set as part of their background. as seen in this picture http://www.fibrespeed.net/~mbabcock/linux/images/desktop-20010102-01.png I remember seeing how to do this before, but for the life of my I can't remember how nor find how to do it on the internet. Anybody have any ideas? Jason ================================================ BRLUG - The Baton Rouge Linux User Group Visit http://www.brlug.net for more information.
