If your docs are printed, bring em to the next meeting. I look over them. For what its worth, the firmware running in that gadget was probably put into a OTB (one-time-burn) when it was manufactured so its probably unchangeable anyway. T

But apparantly all you have to do is open the COM port to which the device is attached and start talking to it. That is, once the port is open, you use the internals documented in the SDK to send VALID messages to the scanner. I can open the serial port and send meaningless messages, and I can assure that the scanner rudely ignores them. : ) If you want to dig into this deeper, let me know and maybe we can get something going on the side.
