I've been using OpenOffice for a while. I switch to it from StarOffice6beta. It is much better than StarOffice5.2. First and foremost, it's more stable. They have also eliminated the annoying "desktop" interface in favor of individual apps. It also is much better at opening the traditional Microsoft formats than any other app I've tried. Of course it's huge and a resource hog.
I still primarily use gnumeric -- which is fantastic -- for Excel documents and antiword to view Word attachments. But for editing those documents OpenOffice is great. I'm currently using the last stable beta which I believe is the same as the current 1.0 release.
