Hi, all. =A0I have what I hope is a simple question about=20
groups. =A0I am currently running RedHat 7.2.

I am working on some PHP-Nuke stuff work, no big deal. =A0However, I have i=
t=20
installed to /var/www/html. =A0It is a hassle to have to do everything in=20
/var/www/html as root, so I created a group called 'web' using the RH=20
User/Group administration tool. =A0I added my personal account, jcole, to t=
he=20
'web' group. =A0Then I did 'chgrp -R web html' and 'chmod -R 2775 html' fro=
m=20
/var/www. =A0So far so good, right?

So I open a terminal window and pop over to /var/www/html and try something=
=20
like 'cat index.php > foo' to see if I can now edit things in the web tree =
as=20
jcole. =A0Uh oh - 'bash: foo: permission denied'.

The entry for the web group in /etc/group is:

web:x:501:jcole

Does anyone out there have any idea as to what I am doing incorrectly?

Thanks.

John.
