No guess about pricing.   eMachines used to have a very poor reputation
for quality, but since early this year seem much improved.  I'd check date
of manufacture....   My son did get Gateway to match a price for a similar
machine elsewhere -- chopped a couple of hundred dollars off.  He likes
his machine.

If all else fails, ask if you can have a 'cheaper' operating system, like 
Win98SE,
and be sure to get the CD.

No experience with WalMart machines.
