It really depends on the app. It can be either client
or server, depending.

Define "center" of your little network.

Know that one box can be running the dhcpd (DHCP
daemon, where a daemon is a server process running in
the background) and serving up IP addresses from a
pool of dummy IP addresses (192.168.x.y,
192.168.x+1.y+1,...) that only you are using. Another
box or device can be acting as your router running the
gated (gate daemon) and providing routing functions
between your little network (192.168.x.0) and another
network, like the Internet.

Keep plugging away at it, Bart. You will get it. We
were all there once too.
