A lot of people said the same thing about the IBM of the 60's and 70's. Look at them now. As much as we love to hate Microsoft now, ask some professors or others who remember the IBM back then, and you too will just shake your head at some of the stuff they pulled. It wasn't till Gerstner took over in the 90's that they changed focus from moving proprietary mainframes out of the warehouse to moving money into their bank account. And if you think IBM's Linux initiative is in good faith, well... ask any IBM manager about it, and he'll say "it makes good business sense". Translation: "we can make money off of Linux". But i think they are making a lot of good choices, and if they can make money off of Linux and open source, more power to them. I don't think Microsoft is going anywhere, but they won't remain dominant forever. In 15-20 years, our kids/grandkids will be telling us how cool Microsoft is. Then we'll mention some of the crap MS used to pull back in the day, and they'll just shake their heads. -Ray -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ray DeJean http://www.r-a-y.org Systems Engineer Southeastern Louisiana University IBM Certified Specialist AIX Administration, AIX Support =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
