Are you doing any NAT?  I know sometimes NAT'd sessions will drop out. 
Perhaps it has a timeout on the state of the connection if it sees no
activity?  I have a Allied Telysin NAT at home, and it times out after 5
minutes.  This setting is unfortunately not configurable on my NAT.
