You are exactly right. I have a guitar tube amp. Even though it is small it sounds so sweet! The sound is totally different from a solid state. The only problem is maintenance---- you will have to replace the valves after so many hours of usage. I wish I could afford a tube amp for my home stereo-- perhaps, one day after I retire :)
