Tim:
Just curious. I have yet to have the honor of being a
Unix-based Sysadmin. Novell, Winblows LANMAN-through-2K yes, but
never [sigh] Unix. I have had several Unix boxes that ran outside of
the NT domains for SAP and SQL that I got to babysit (yawn). Gee,
that was tough. The only problem we ever had was pushing the
databases to the NT clients when they lost their limited little
minds.
I got this notice from Redhat because I used to run it. I like
to stay informed, so I never unsuscribed. Like I said, I have
nothing against RedHat. It is a great product. The fact it doesn't
meet my needs right now says more about my meager network than Redhat
I'm sure.
What I am wondering is how this sort of notice affects
managment? Do they appreciate the advanced notice? Or, do you think
they would be happier with the MS model of crash, tell no one, blame
it on: draw card... Ionic disturbence of the fragonisephere causing
leptons to cascade through the MACdownload?!
Personally, I would like to think they apreciated the advanced
notice. It has not generally been my experience though. What is
your personal experience? Share, not share, take photos of
sysadmin's supervisors and store them for future use? What works for
you Tim?
