WOW!!!!!
Two days working on it! and the only thing I have installed and not even =
configured is Window Maker. As soon as I finished I just had to boot =
into win2k to check my mail.
I have normally used Slackware and it is fairly easy for me because that =
is what know. In fact I have always considered aspects of RedHat such as =
the boot up process much more complex than that of Slackware, System V =
and BSD accordingly. Or is it the way around? :-)
Also, you hardly do anything because the curses installer does mostly =
everything. Gentoo on the other hand, requires a hell of a lot of manual =
tweaking. Slackware is a breeze compared to this baby.
Now, I believe this has to be the most advanced distribution I have =
seen. What is even more impressive to me is that the scripts have been =
flawless so far. ( Let me boot into it to try to set X and I will =
belocked out of my machine :-) )
I love the feature that you boot into a version of linux and can control =
networking and have a usable system. I did a ssh to the gateway ( no =
monitor, keyboard, nor mouse ) and was able to look up some help about =
grub which I had never used among other things.
What I do not quite understand is the USE:"" command. I dissabled =
everything but what is needed for gnome mostly. What I am not sure what =
to do is if I ever decide to use KDE what would I do? recompile =
everything which I hope not to do anytime soon? I just thought about =
that because of the presentation posting, I am thinking of using Quanta, =
Ooops.
Anyway, I have to go back to the cave and get some apps going, later
Alvaro
