Hi everyone: If you recall, I had a posting a few months back about a Mac G4 dual processor which I used for a brief period of time and the motherboard fried or something like that.
I that I was talking to Dr. Traxler about the computer since he is a fan. I told him that it was just sitting home and I wanted to sell it. His concern was that maybe one of the CPUs was bad or anything else for that matter and fixing it would be extremely expensive. I also talked to John about the computer and he expressed the same concern. Well, I thought that if I did not fix this baby I was never going to sell and it was going to fade out fashion soon, so I took it to Coy computers. The machine was dead! however, they tech guy said that he turn on the computer and started right away! I think he upgraded or restored the firmware. That computers was in a corner of the house for months. I even bought a new computer somewhere in the middle because I needed a little more power than my Optiplex 400 mhz. Needless to say, I do not need it since I already have a HP 1.4ghz in addition to the dell and an old zenith which serves as a firewall and I have not been able to give to anyone. The tech guy at Coy computers told me that he would not sell it for less than $999 so there it is. It includes the computer as sold by apple ( ATI Rage with vga and digital output, 30Gig HD, DVD, 2-450CPU, 128Ram + I added a 64chip I had laying around ), a 17inch Apple Studio Display with Digital connection, and an ergonomic ortek translucent keyboard. I am going to be posting some adds at LSU over the weekend at the Design, Music, Computer Science and English Departments but I wanted to give you a crack at this great offer. If anyone is interested let me know and we can make arrangements for you to see it. Now it has MacOS 9.2 but I could install gentoo linux with Altivec optimization and an dual processor kernel in case you do not consider the process to be fun. I love that distribution and this would be my 7th install from scratch. I find compiler output to be a beautiful screensaver:-) Take care, Alvaro Zuniga
