Just a note to remind you that we are _not_ having a meeting this Monday, 1/20/03, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King's Day.
Instead, we are having a meeting on 1/27/03 at 6pm in Room 1 at the CCCC office. The topic of the meeting will be a mini-install fest and problem solving session. So if you are having any problems installing or running Linux on your home PCs, now is the time to bring them and get some help in getting those problems solved. If you are planning to bring a PC, please arrive early and make sure you have all of your gear like power cords, keyboards, mice and monitor to run your PC. Also, if you want some help with installing Linux on a system that is already running Microsoft Windows, then you should prepare before coming by defragging your hard drive. That will make it easier to repartition your hard drive. If you own Partition Magic, then please repartition your hard drive yourself before coming to the meeting. You will need about 2GB of hard drive space to install Linux. It will also be very helpful if you print out a copy of your system hardware info like Belarc Advisor does, so that we will know what kind of modem, network and video card you have. And please identify the technical specifications for your monitor by finding it at: http://www.monitorworld.com and printing out or writing down the specs. Being prepared prior to the meeting will help us to help you more effectively. If you have any questions, please ask now on the mailing list. One more thing, I'd like to ask more experienced Linux users to show up as well to help out with installation and trouble-shooting. Thanks, and see you there! -- John Hebert: [EMAIL PROTECTED] System Engineer: I T Group, Inc. http://www.it-group.com 225.922.4535
