Hi ,

I need to seek the group's knowledge and advice. Soo, it appears that I will
be forced into upgrading my computer system from the 500 mhz machine to one
of at least 1.5 gigahz.

Since I built this one 3 years ago. motherboards and processors have rapidly
changed, LOL! I'm soooo lost right now.

I am on a "limited budget" so, I probably will have to get the motherboard
first and the new DDR RAM later to finish.

I already have the following: floppy drive, 10/100 Lan card, 2 hard drives
(20 & 6 gigs), R/W CD ROM, New ATX case/ 2 fans.

Below, please see the things I would "like" to have and then e-mail me,
privately so as not to tie up the List. My e-mail address is :
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Motherboard Needs:

#1. Board needs to be able to run WIN 2000 and a version of Linux. (I'm
still using Word Perfect 6.0 for DOS and I still have a few programs in
Windows that I must run on that [EMAIL PROTECTED] O/S, LOL!) I probably will
go with
LibraNet Linux.

#2. Although I don't plan to watch DVD's on my computer, I will need a good
on-board graphics system with plans for a "kick-ass" video card
(Suggestions?) later for some other work.

#3. LOTS of slots for additional cards.

#4. Slots for at least 2 gigs of DDR RAM but really want 3 gigs of DDR RAM,
hehe.

#5. RAID would be nice. :-)

#6 At least 4 USB ports.

#7. MUST have on-board sound, but, again maybe I'll add a "kick-ass" audio
card later too. (Suggestions?)

TIA,

John
