Just wanted to send a quick report on the Perk's meeting on 2/12/03. In attendance was Terry Stockdale, Tim Fournet, and myself. Terry brought me a copy of the Baen books CD (note: free to share, not to sell) containing a bunch of ebooks. Baen is a publisher of SF/Fantasy paperbacks and is experimenting with a free source model and giving away old books in digital format. So, if you are into SF/Fantasy or just wanna try some out on the cheap, look em up: http://www.baen.com.
Tim brought a copy of the latest Linux journal, which had some interesting articles. We all chatted about running Linux on laptops, wireless networking, and help Terry debug an smbd/nmbd problem. Seating was a little limited as the LSU semester is in full swing, but we had no problems getting two small tables together. And we ate the hell out of some pastries. BTW: Perks has free 802.11b Internet connectivity. We meet there informally about once a month to get in touch with our inner geek. -- John Hebert System Engineer I T Group, Inc. http://www.it-group.com
