This situation is silly. I am airing all this publicly to make sure there is an understanding here for future situations.
1. The list is not moderated. 2. The list is mostly about Linux and open source, but topics can and will wander. c. If you have a problem with a post then talk to ME, and not to the list. d. There is nothing wrong with John's joke. In fact, I thought it was vaguely funny. e. Children are more than welcome to read this list. However, parents should realize that this list is frequented mostly by adults and that we are apt to make jokes and innuendo. Live with it. 6. If forced to choose between a list restricted to a set of allowed topics and words, or one that is more open than closed but where there is the possibility of people being occasionally offended, I choose the latter. No matter what anyone does, somebody will always get offended. John, do not unsubscribe. I hope this post clears everything as to what is and is not appropriate here. For everyone else, I am the guy to go to if you are offended by a post. Do NOT post an issue publicly on this list. That's just rude. I mean, I feel like this guy's life is now an open book. Doug and others, I am not in any way attacking you. I understand your concern. However, you need to be aware of what is an appropriate way to respond to those concerns. Consider this routine mailing list management. At 06:08 PM 2/15/2003 -0800, you wrote: >John: > >I hope we have made it very clear that all are welcome >here.
