Just a short "update" on the new ICOM 706mk2G: It arrived here in Waskom, Tx about 2 PM by UPS. They sent me a Daiwa switching power supply instead of the Astron, like I ordered. I got it up and running last night and worked some of the locals on 444.9(+5) and some on 50.130(usb). The locals tell me that they HAVE worked the 444.9 machine here FROM Baton Rouge on occasion. So, listen up, LOL! The wx this weekend here is supposed to be rainy. Hmmmm, I wonder if I can throw a 40 meter Loop up inbetween the rain drops, LOL! I know that there are some "Ham" Linux programs out there and I'll be trying to get a few to work. :-) Again, rather than tie up these List, e-mail me here if you wish to discuss "ham" stuff, Linux related or not.
