Ouch. The faster you migrate, the better off you will be. I have not used M$ to do more than burn CDs for a year now, and I don't think I'm missing much. What does M$ still provide that you actually need? Would'nt it be better to isolate those few needs and take those computers off the network? Surely, email and browsing are not those Microsoft needs. If you get rid of that, you eliminate most of your virus threats. The only thing that would be left is Word bombs comming in from the sneaker net and that will go away if you move your text editing to Open Office or some other reasonable program. The trickiest dependency I've seen are plugins for M$ Excell. I got asked about that at a lecture the other month, but did not remember the correct answer. Suse can run Excel and it would be worthwhile seeing if Excel's plugins worked under Suse too. That would take care of it. Poof, no more native M$ runs.
