Had a similar concern years ago with a VAX. Wrote a little program to simulate giving the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to the entire population of the U.S. with answers generated by random numbers. Started it Friday, and on Monday it was just finishing up. Frequencies were exactly as expected, to at least 7 significant figures. I wasn't interested in stressing the disk, so output written to disk was minimal, but it did work out the CPU.
Did you see that the Microsoft annual report was produced in Microsoft Word, for the Mac?
