for workstations I use the serial number. for servers, I use "clientcityfunctionincrement Thus if it were an application server in Memphis, TN for Xerox corp then it would be named MemXerapps1 and their 2nd apps server would be MemXerapps2. If you mix clients apps on the same server then you could substitute the client portion for the name of your company. As you can tell, my company has multiple clients that we do the I.T. stuff for.
