I am enrolled in the honors intro to computer science class (why its at
9:30, neither the professor or I can figure out), and everyone might be
pleased to know... we will be using Linux exclusively as our operating
system of choice. The lab that the class is in (the WANT Lab) is full
of dual boot machines, running win2kpro and RedHat Linux (9.0 for all I
could tell).

We will start off using the GNU C++ compiler, then move on to a
commercial compiler. The name for the compiler wasnt given, but the
price was... upwards of $1,000 per computer. I am not sure, but I think
we will be accessing these via slogin on one of the sun workstations.

Sounded like news you guys might like.

On a side note, I was driving through baton rouge, listening to my
favorite radio station (91.1 klsu) sunday evening. It was their weekly
news show, and they were talking about the blaster worm. They mentioned
that it sucked because the only alternative was the mac, and that was
too expensive.

So I called up during the break, and told the dj about linux (at which
point he was like "yea, i've heard of that before). They put me on the
show and I gave a short 30 second spiel about Linux (but forgot to
mention brlug :( I was put on the spot).

So I'm sure that got out to a bunch of listeners.
