Aha, gotcha. Maybe somebody else can suggest some XFree86 magic, I mostly do
command line stuff.

I suggest you hit http://www.knoppix.net/docs/index.php/FaqNewQuestions and
ask there. The FAQs there seem to be well-maintained. I didn't see your
specific question, but you might wanna read through em and there is lots of
useful info there.

When I run the GUI command as root it said that it couldn't open the
display? And when I did xhost + that didn't help it either.
