Thank you for your response.  The following web page shows what I've 
done so far: http://home.bredband.no/gaulyk/java/tutorial/javaredhat.html

If I do java -version command I get the following response from the system:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] matt]# java -version
java version "1.4.1_05"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.1_05-b01)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.1_05-b01, mixed mode)

Java is at least partially working.. the page I'm trying to view gives 
the following error message:

"This page contains information of a  type (application/x-java-vm) that 
can only be viewed with the appropriate Plug-in.  Click OK to download 
the Plugin." 

When you click OK it takes you to: http://wp.netscape.com/plugins/jvm.html

After I install that plugin...still nothing happens.  It just keeps 
telling me to download the plugin.
