Interesting article with Sun's VP of software. I have mixed feelings about the whole thing.
http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,4149,1274614,00.asp "Schwartz: I expect to take 10 percent of the market in the first year. Ten percent of a $30 billion a year desktop market is huge." Great that they are willing to go toe-to-toe with Microsoft, and are very optimistic. "Also, let me really clear about our Linux strategy. We don't have one. We don't at all. We do not believe that Linux plays a role on the server. Period." Sad that they still don't understand the benefits of Linux... "The only operating systems that have credibility on Intel are Microsoft Windows, Solaris and Linux." Haha now that's just funny. Do ya'll know anyone running Solaris on Intel? Hello, can you spell BSD? Ever hear of Netware? Sure Netware as we know it may be on its way out, but to say it isn't a credible OS is silly. I'd venture to say the number of production *BSD boxes far outnumber Intel Solaris boxes. ray -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ray DeJean http://www.r-a-y.org Systems Engineer Southeastern Louisiana University IBM Certified Specialist AIX Administration, AIX Support =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
