No, when Microsoft coerces vendors to use a BIOS that only boots M$, Microsoft is abusing it's monopoly power. A free BIOS will always load whatever you want. A M$ BIOS will only load what M$ wants it to load. The power M$ has to coerce vendors is the software "incompatibility" threat. With XP auto-updater, it is easier than ever to "break" a specific piece of hardware.
