Then I found a python script mdirarchive.py to break up the automatically into folders named like "ArchiveMail.2003-08" . Actually I am running this one out of cron and it's archiving my inbox and my sent folder into these sorted folders. you tell mdirarchive how many days old a message has to be to archive.
